6th International festival of Choirs and Orchestras in Vienna

In its magnificent setting on the beautiful Danube, Vienna more than lives up to its centuries old tradition of civilised culture. Beautiful buildings of many architectural styles beautiful palaces, ancient streets, public gardens and street cafes await you in this majestic city. Participate in the Vienna Music Festival and perform for and with other international choirs and orchestras in wonderful venues and make long-lasting friendships with groups from around the world.

Vienna has been home to Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Strauss and continues to maintain an exceptional musical heritage to this day and the city offers the perfect backdrop for this Autumn Music Festival. The festival allows plenty of time for choirs to see Vienna’s sights and attractions and visit the city’s many wonderful museums. Visit St.Stephens Cathedral, built in the 12th century, the stunning baroque Schonbrunn Palace and the Belvedere Gallery with its famous Klimt paintings. See the world famous Vienna Boys Choir, Vienna Philharmonic and perhaps even take time to take in an opera at the Vienna State Opera or Volksoper.

DAY 1
Choirs arrive and overnight in the hotel

DAY 2
Breakfast in hotel.
After breakfast choirs can enjoy a guided city tour of Vienna. Famous sights of Vienna include the State Opera, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of Natural History, the Hofburg and the Imperial Winter Palace. Your city tour will take you across the Danube, where you will see modern Vienna with the Danube Tower, the United Nations buildings and the newly constructed apartment buildings. A tour highlight for many is the controversial multi-coloured Hundertwasserhaus and the KunstHaus, both designed by the famous Austrian artist, Friedensreich Hundertwasser.

DAY 3
Breakfast in hotel.
Choirs can choose to take an optional excursion.
In the afternoon, there is a meeting of all conductors, choir rehearsals and the festival concert.

DAY 4
Breakfast in hotel.
Choirs depart.
