11th International Istra Music Festival for Choirs and Orchestras in Porec, Istria, Croatia

Each year in April, Istra in Croatia attracts choirs from all corners of the globe. The festival is set in the picturesque Porec area. The festivities begin on the Wednesday and Thursday as choirs begin to arrive and continue throughout the weekend. During your stay, choirs have the option of visiting two very different but very classic towns of Pula and Rovinj. The festival schedule and the number of festival concerts will depend on the number and kind of participating choirs and orchestras. There will be plenty of time between rehearsals and concerts for tourist leisure activities an meeting with other festival participants.

Istria is located on the peninsula on the Italian border, in the far north of Croatia.  The cultural and historical influence of Italy and Central Europe is ever apparent in Istra which offers many attractions and sights. The combination of natural beauties, the healing powers of air, sun and the ocean, as well as the hospitality of the local inhabitants make for an ideal choral destination. Tour Manager

A CCI Tour Manager will be assigned to you for the duration of your booking, to assist in the pre-departure preparations and to assist with any issues during your stay. The tour manager does not travel with the group.

Transportation While in Istria

Choirs usually make their way around the city via public transport. However, we can arrange coach transportation for your group as required.  

 

SAMPLE ITINERARY

Day 1

  • Choirs arrive
  • Meet local guide on arrival at Venice airport
  • Travel by private coach to your hotel located in Porec
  • Gather first impressions of beautiful Istra and gather first impressions of Croatia
  • Dinner the hotel restaurant.
Day 2
  • Rehearsal
  • Participation in festival concert
  • Enjoy the morning at leisure and
  • Choir rehearsal takes place.
  • Dinner is served at the hotel
  • Perform your 30-minute festival concert in frontof other attending choirs
  • Hear the performances of other attending choirs.
     
Day 3
  • Choir participate in the concert with other attending choirs
  • Morning at leisure
  • Choirs perform in the joint concert (open-air in front of the Church Gospa od AnÄ‘ela. (please note that this concert is weather depending)
  • Opt to have the afternoon free to enjoy Porec or perhaps explore Pula or Rovinj
  • Dinner is served at the hotel restaurant
  • Choral performances once again take place. 
     
Day 4
  • Excursion
  • Choirs can relax at leisure
  • We recommend an excursion of Istra with wine and olive
  • Dinner is served at the hotel restaurant
  • Choral performances once again take place. 
Day 5
  • Choirs depart
  • Check out of the hotel and depart for your flight home.
