Held every two years, Budapest plays host to the Budapest International Choir Festival and competition.  This event in Budapest attracts choirs from all corners of the globe. The festival is set in the historic Budapest and is organised by international choral organiser 'Meeting Music'. The festivities begin on the Friday as choirs begin to arrive and continue throughout the weekend. Begin your stay with an afternoon parade followed by reception for the Jury and Choir conductors.  Then, in the evening, the festival opening ceremony takes place.   This festival offers competitive and non-competitive performances and give an opportunity for choirs to present their competition programme before the actual competition to a panel of qualified international jurors and receive positive and pedagogical feedback, which can then be introduced in the competitive performance.

Budapest  

Budapest is one of the most magnificent cities in Europe.  Admire the magnificent architecture of Hungary’s parliament building, walk the famous Andrásy Avenue – starting from the historic Heroes Square and stretching almost as far as the St Stephen's Basilica. See the city sights on a city tour, as you are chauffeured along Budapest's elegant boulevards to Heroes’ Square, across the mighty Danube and up to Gellert Hill. Look out over the famous river dividing Buda and Pest - the two sides linked by the Chain and Elizabeth Bridges. Visit the Castle District and enjoy the amazing views from the Fisherman’s Bastion over the exquisite Parliament building, one of the largest in Europe. During your free time, spend the afternoon at the popular pedestrian shopping street of Váci utca where the city’s fine museums and monuments, churches and synagogues, historic squares and buildings are within easy reach or enjoy a relaxing visit to one of Budapest's famous thermal baths, literally an institution in Budapest! It is here, “by the beautiful blue Danube,” that the Budapest Music Festival takes place.

Friendship concerts, individual coaching and evaluation performances coaching take place throughout the event on various days.

Choirs and Orchestras can choose to participate in the non-competitive Festival Category or to compete in the relevant Competition Categories.

• A CCI Tour Manager will be assigned to you for the duration of your booking, to assist in the pre-departure preparations and to assist with any issues during your stay.

 

Choirs usually make their way around the city via public transport. However, we can arrange coach transportation for your group as

required. 

 

Once you enquire with CCI you will be given your own dedicated festival planner, and this planner will also assist you with the booking of flights for your group.
