7th International Conductor's Seminar, Wernigerode, Germany

The 13th International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival and Competition will be held in the "colourful city in the Harz region," Wernigerode, one of Germany's most picturesque and inspirational little towns, the week before this workshop with world-class choral masters takes place.
It is an expansion of INTERKULTUR's educational offerings and is intended for overseas students, young professionals, junior conductors, and choir aides.

The conference is specifically open to interested choir singers and conductors from these states as well as teaching and music students from the nearby conservatories in Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, Saxony, and Hesse. 
Engaging participants will have the chance to work closely with the Kammerchor Wernigerode to study and practise international choral literature, with the opportunity to present the results at a concluding concert. It is also feasible to participate passively as an observer. We are also happy that there will be a limited capacity for singers to participate, which will be a first.

PROGRAMME

The Studio choir

The Chamber Choir Wernigerode consists of alumni of the Landesgymnasium für Musik Wernigerode and was founded in 2003 by Peter Habermann. The members received musical education during their time at school and gained international concert experience in the Radio Youth Choir Wernigerode or the Wernigerode Girls‘ Choir. Today, the singers live all over Germany.

With their shared memories, individuality and love of experimentation, they create the unmistakable sound that was awarded gold medals at the 2018 World Choir Games in Tshwane (South Africa).

The ensemble experiments with innovative concert formats and is a guest in renowned concert series such as the MDR Musiksommer.

The Chamber Choir Wernigerode has been conducted by Jean-Philippe Apel since 2023.

Interkultur Scholarship

During the ongoing events in 2024 INTERKULTUR grants scholarships for the participation in this seminar to young, talented conductors who have achieved outstanding results with their ensembles.

It is also possible to apply for a scholarship from INTERKULTUR. A limited number of places are available for this, which can be taken up by selected scholarship holders after the application documents have been checked.

Tour Manager

A CCI Tour Manager will be assigned to you for the duration of your booking, to assist in the pre-departure preparations and to assist with any issues during your stay. The tour manager does not travel with the group.

Transportation While in Germany

Choirs usually make their way around the city with the local guide via public transport. However, we can arrange coach transportation for your group as required.
